Addit – Your Reliable Partner for Complex and Demanding Projects in the Printing Industry

Market Segment:

Print & Paper Industry

Our partner is a manufacturer of professional printing equipment designed for high-performance and high-reliability applications. Addit manufactures and continuously develops a key paper handling module responsible for guiding paper throughout the printing system. The structure maintains the geometric integrity of the entire assembly and ensures the precise positioning of paper-guiding components handling paper at speeds of up to approximately 300 A4 sheets per minute.

The project required the development of a robust manufacturing process capable of delivering the highest surface quality of paper-guiding components while maintaining exceptional geometric accuracy of the complete assembly. Particular attention was devoted to eliminating burrs and surface imperfections that could affect paper transport, as well as ensuring repeatability of punching, bending, and welding processes through the use of dedicated tooling and a robotic welding cell.

The long-term development of the project extended beyond manufacturing technology improvements to include comprehensive optimization of production organization and logistics. Addit redesigned the production model, significantly reducing lead times, implemented a Kanban replenishment system with EDI communication, and transferred the production of selected components to its in-house CNC machining department.

Scope of the Project:

  • analysis of technical requirements and development of the manufacturing process for the frame and paper-guiding components
  • implementation of punching, bending, welding, and machining processes ensuring high geometric precision
  • manufacturing of nickel-plated sheet metal components meeting the highest surface quality requirements for paper-guiding applications, where geometric deviations, scratches, and burrs are not permitted
  • transfer of selected component production to Addit’s in-house CNC machining department
  • development of dedicated tooling, inspection gauges, and welding fixtures
  • implementation of a robotic welding process
  • implementation of a Kanban replenishment system with EDI communication and integration with the customer’s ERP system
  • management of the global supply chain for long lead-time components
  • assembly and system integration
  • optimization of production organization and lead time reduction
