Cleanroom – Cleaning, Assembly, and Packaging in a Controlled Environment
Addit performs cleaning, inspection, assembly, and packaging processes in a cleanroom that complies with the requirements of ISO 14644 Class 7.
The cleanroom is an integral part of Addit’s comprehensive contract manufacturing model. It enables the preparation of precision components, integrated modules, and subassemblies ready for direct use in the customer’s clean manufacturing processes.
Cleanliness Considered Throughout the Entire Manufacturing Process
The final cleanliness level is influenced by every preceding manufacturing stage, including material selection, surface preparation, machining, welding, surface finishing, and the protection of components during in-process transportation.
During process planning, we analyze, among other factors:
- material type and surface characteristics
- product geometry
- the presence of holes, threads, welds, and internal cavities
- potential sources of contamination
- planned surface treatment processes
- compatibility of the material with cleaning agents
- required inspection, assembly, and packaging methods
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Our primary automated cleaning method is performed using a Unitron LU-1000 WRRD four-chamber ultrasonic cleaning system with an integrated drying function. The selection of ultrasonic cleaning is preceded by an analysis of the material, component geometry, and the ability of the cleaning medium to reach all critical product surfaces.
Ultrasonic technology effectively removes contaminants even from difficult-to-access areas. It is particularly suitable for components with complex geometries, including multiple bends, holes, threads, welds, recesses, and internal surfaces.
Ultrasonic cleaning system specifications:
- maximum component dimensions: 800 × 500 × 500 mm
- maximum component weight: 80 kg
- integrated rinsing and drying proces
- temperature adjustment range for washing and rinsing: up to 80°C.
Manual Cleaning
Components exceeding the size or weight limits of the ultrasonic cleaning system can be cleaned manually within the controlled cleanroom environment.
For manual cleaning, we use:
- laser-cut lint-free cleaning wipes that do not release fibers or particles
- dedicated swabs and cleaning tools for holes, threads, radii, and difficult-to-access surfaces
- carefully selected cleaning agents
As a standard, 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is used unless the customer’s documentation specifies a different cleaning agent. Alternative cleaning media can be used after verifying their compatibility with the material and surface of the component.
Special consideration is required for materials such as plastics and sealing materials, including EPDM. In these cases, both the cleaning method and the cleaning chemistry are selected to ensure effective contaminant removal without adversely affecting material properties.
Cleanliness Inspection
After cleaning, components undergo cleanliness inspection. Product cleanliness requirements, inspection methods, and documentation procedures are defined individually according to the customer’s specifications.
UV light inspection supports the detection of residues and surface contamination that may be difficult to identify under standard lighting conditions. Acceptance criteria are established in accordance with the technical documentation for each specific product.
Cleanroom conditions are continuously monitored using a particle counter, ensuring controlled environmental conditions throughout cleaning, inspection, assembly, and packaging operations.
Assembly and System Integration
Following cleaning and inspection, products can be assembled and integrated directly within the cleanroom environment, minimizing the risk of recontamination.
The customer receives a fully assembled and properly protected module ready for further integration into the final product.
Packaging and Product Protection
Packaging and protection methods are individually selected according to the surface characteristics, sensitivity of the product, and the customer’s requirements for unpacking within the destination cleanroom environment.
