Addit – Your Reliable Partner for Complex and Demanding Projects in the Printing Industry

Market Segment:

Print & Paper Industry

Our partner is a manufacturer of professional printing equipment designed for long-term continuous operation. Addit executed a project involving the production of the structural frame for a large-format printer, serving as the primary load-bearing structure of the entire machine.

The key requirement of the project was to achieve exceptionally high manufacturing accuracy, including tight geometric tolerances, precise positioning of mounting holes, and long-term dimensional stability throughout the equipment’s service life. A particular challenge was minimizing welding-induced distortion while maintaining the required geometric accuracy of the frame.

Addit developed a dedicated manufacturing process incorporating specialized punching tools, advanced bending technologies, proprietary welding fixtures, and a multi-stage welding process. To further improve process repeatability, a robotic welding process was implemented, eliminating the need for post-weld straightening and significantly reducing finishing operations.

Scope of the Project:

  • analysis of technical and quality requirements for the structural frame of a large-format printer
  • development of manufacturing technologies for sheet metal components and precision machined parts
  • implementation of punching, bending, and machining processes while maintaining tight geometric tolerances
  • design and manufacture of dedicated inspection templates and welding fixtures
  • development of a multi-stage welding process designed to minimize structural distortion
  • implementation of a robotic welding process
  • inspection of geometric parameters and manufacturing quality at every stage of production
  • CNC machining and preparation of the structure for KTL (cathodic electrocoating) corrosion protection
  • preparation of the manufacturing process for stable serial production with a high level of quality repeatability
