Market Segment:
Diagnostics, analytics, and laboratory technology
Our partner is a global supplier of advanced laboratory equipment designed for monitoring and analysis of chemical reaction processes, primarily used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
In this project, Addit acted as a contract manufacturing partner, providing comprehensive product industrialization support – from prototyping and design optimization to production readiness and serial production ramp-up. A key success factor was close, hands-on collaboration between the engineering teams of both organizations.
The project was initiated at an early conceptual stage, based on preliminary design assumptions and initial technical documentation. This required the parallel development of the mechanical design, manufacturing processes, electrical and electronic integration, as well as the definition and implementation of scalable production processes.
One of the key engineering challenges was the development of the machine frame based on precision-formed profiles, which required the implementation of dedicated cutting, welding, and geometric tolerance control processes. Additionally, custom welding fixtures and tooling were designed to ensure repeatability and dimensional accuracy of the welded assemblies.
Another critical aspect of the project was the integration of electrical and electronic systems, including the assembly of highly sensitive cable harnesses, as well as effective management of long lead-time components within the supply chain.
Scope of the project:
- Collaboration with the customer on the development of technical documentation and BOM to ensure production readiness and stable serial manufacturing
- Optimization of the frame design, implementation of laser cutting processes for profiles, and development of dedicated welding fixtures and Flow-drill technology
- Development, expansion, and stabilization of the supply chain, including supplier qualification to ensure consistent quality and delivery performance
- Development and implementation of manufacturing processes for high-precision sheet metal components, welded assemblies, precision machining, and mechanical fitting/assembly operations
- Implementation of advanced surface finishing processes, including dual-color chemical-resistant powder coating and aluminum anodizing
- Development of durable marking solutions resistant to aggressive chemical environments
- Mechanical assembly of the final product
- Integration of sensitive electrical and electronic components under full ESD protection
- Functional testing and validation of the device
