For one of the leading rolling stock manufacturers, Addit is delivering a project involving the production of air intake assemblies installed on the roofs of railway vehicles. These components form part of the vehicle’s ventilation system and serve as the mounting location for air filters. In addition to their functional purpose, they also constitute a visible part of the vehicle’s exterior roof structure and therefore must meet stringent requirements regarding geometric accuracy, manufacturing quality, and visual appearance.
The key challenge of the project was to maintain the required contour of the roof panel, ensuring full conformity with the geometry of the adjacent roof covers, while achieving the dimensional accuracy required for components interfacing with the ventilation system. Addit developed the complete manufacturing process and implemented dedicated welding fixtures and inspection gauges, enabling continuous verification of geometric parameters at critical stages of production.
The dedicated manufacturing tooling developed by Addit ensured the required flatness of the mounting flanges, accurate positioning of filter mounting holes, and a high level of manufacturing repeatability.
Scope of the Project:
- analysis of technical and geometric requirements for air intake assemblies used in railway vehicles
- development of the manufacturing process including laser cutting, bending, and welding operations
- implementation of dedicated inspection gauges for geometric verification during bending and welding processes
- production of components while maintaining the required roof contour geometry and mounting flange flatness
- implementation of structural sealing processes
- execution of painting processes in accordance with customer requirements
- installation of thermal insulation
