Our partner is a supplier specializing in electrical solutions for the railway industry. Addit is responsible for a project involving the production and assembly of enclosures for electrical units installed on the roofs of railway vehicles.
The project required the development and implementation of manufacturing technologies for structures fabricated from high-strength hardened carbon steel. The key challenge was to maintain tight geometric tolerances while ensuring high structural rigidity and leak tightness, as well as adapting manufacturing processes to the material’s mechanical properties and the large dimensions of the assemblies. Addit developed dedicated cutting, bending, and welding technologies, implementing a specialized workstation equipped with a two-column positioner, a lifting system, and dedicated welding fixtures that enable the entire structure to be welded in a single setup.
Another important aspect of the project was the development of an assembly process incorporating Class A3 structural adhesive bonding, structural riveting, joint sealing, and controlled torque tightening. These solutions ensured the required leak tightness and long-term structural durability of the assemblies.
