Market segment:
Internal and external infrastructure
With a start-up company we have codesigned and produced prototypes of a drymist disinfection device.
Based on the list of requirements from the customer, Addit has designed a modular device serving three purposes: primary function was disinfection of large premises using dry mist, secondary function was hand disinfection, third function was displaying information and commercials on a 27” screen.
The biggest challenge was designing the compressed-air-system, where the key role played a carefully selected compressor. We had to calculate all parameters to generate enough dry mist to disinfect large premises. Another challenge was the 15m long hose with a second dry-mist head used for disinfecting hard-to-reach surfaces, distant from the device, this added additional challenge to the calculations and design of the system. To test the assumptions of the design, we had to 3D print some elements of the device, including the casing for the drymist head.
The whole device had to be designed for easy maintenance, to be safe to use, be resistant to damage from constant use and be modular at the same time – the customer could choose the equipment options he needed..
Scope of the project
In the realization of this project, Addit stood for:
- Engineering based on the list of requirements from the customer
- Designing the compressed-air-system
- Choosing appropriate components and setting up the supply chain
- Creation of documentation
- Prototyping, including 3D printing
